Wasted my time and energy!

In what I think is a classic case of bait and switch and not the first time I saw this behavior at PCR, I saw a newspaper ad that PCR posted outside their store for 2 Magic Chef Microwaves. I went in wanting to get the cheaper and slightly lighter of the two. This was about a week and a half ago. As usual, they had only the larger more expensive model in stock. This was an improvement since they rarely have any but the most expensive models available. (I know because I'd checked before!) I was prevailed upon to accept the larger at the same price as the smaller but I said I'd pick it up and walk it home on a hand truck. But I changed my mind and held out for the smaller due to my lack of space at home and phoned them to change it. When I called to check if they had it they said yes and I wheeled the thing over to pick it up. When I got there they didn't have it but gave me money off the price because of the nuisance factor. I kept calling and this morning they said they had one model but to hurry before they sold it. So I made the trek again and lo and behold, they again didn't have it except for the display model. They said they'd have it but by now I had it and got my cash back. I will not go back to PC Richards, needless to say!

I shopped at pc Richards before and most recently in Woodbridge NJ. The tv in their ad was no longer in stock at the store but manager Chris gave me the option to have it ordered in by mid week, or take the next model up for the same price.

I obviously took the step up model. Switch and bait like what Tops Appliances used to do, would not keep you in business long.

I think what Chris did is one reason why they have been around for a long time. You become like Tops or 6th quickly if you practice switch and bait.

This place has the worst service ever

i bought a 1200 window air conditioner here, but when it was delivered and installed, it didn't work. the installer called the store and they told him, "it isn't the unit, it must be the power source," despite the fact another appliance was working using the same plug. they left the unit half installed with pieces scattered about my tiny apartment and made me wait days before they could come back. each visit required a four hour wait, and despite it being their problem, made no effort to apologize, try to make the repeat appointment at my convenience, or even call back. i was hung up on several times by the store manager and when i called corporate to complain, they guy on the phone could not have cared less about my time, my frustration, or my happiness. the service was so bad, i decided to return the unit, but was told i could not get my money back until the unit was picked up which involved giving up my saturday--the time they gave me was between 2 and 6. yes, their prices are good, but their service sucks and i would never ever buy something from them again. buyer beware. they want your money, but have the worst customer service i have ever seen.

PC Richard is dangerous to your health

Buying a fridge at PC Richards has permanently changed my life, and not for the better. This story is five years old but I'm glad to relate it now. I purchased a new Frigidaire from PC Richards and it was delivered a few days later. The delivery men badly scratched my mahogany living room floor in the process and dumped my old refrigerator in our building's basement instead of carting it away. After they left, I realized that they had brought me a fridge that opened from the left and had to make arrangements to have a replacement made. When the replacement was installed, I didn't notice that the delivery crew failed to adjust it for the door to close automatically. I subsequently prepared a breakfast which included cold cereal with milk. An hour later the room started spinning violently. I somehow made it to a bathroom and spent the next eight hours emptying myself at both ends. When my wife arrived from work, I asked her to call an ambulance. The following three days were spent in a hospital for viral food poisoning The next half-year was spent visiting an ENT and going for therapy for vertigo because the infection also attacked my right and inner ear. My ENT brought my word recognition from six percent to eighty percent. He termed my recovery as "near miraculous" and said he would be discussing my case at a conference he was soon to attend in Singapore. His aggressive treatment involved direct injections of steroids through my eardrum. I hope this abridged story is helpful to you. Needless to say, I wouldn't take a product from PC Richards if they gave it to me.

WOW!!!! I need to purchase a frig, stove, washer and dryer.

I was considering making the purchase from PC's because of the financing availability, but these comments have me very concerned. I think I better stick with either Sears, Home Depot or Lowes.

PC Richards-Bait and switch with rebate.

I purchased an air conditioner with the understanding that I would receive a rebate from the manufacturer. After a few weeks from the time I mailed in the paperwork I received a letter from the manufacturer stating the model was not part on the promotion so no rebate. I have tried to contact PC Richards and have not heard from them, they are the ones how gave me the forms with the models that were eligible, mine was on it. They also screwed up the day it was to be installed. I had to scramble and pay a lot more get it put in since I had made arraignments to have my handicapped father out of the house and taken the day off from work and couldn't change things at the last minute.

Extreme poor customer service. Purchased an AC. Worked once. Could not return. 15 phone calls.

Do not buy from PC Richards. Merchandise, open or used NOT RETURNABLE, service done in accordance w/Manufacturers warranty, unless you bought PC Richards "Extended Service Plan". Bought an A/C LG L1210ER. Worked once, called customer service. We had to wait 1 week for service tech. He tells us to bring back broken unit and get a new one. I called the store (Levittown), can't bring back until tech information is put into computer. Called customer service, info will be in by tomorrow morning. Explained I am bringing a 5 year old home from hospital. Ma'am, you have to wait. Let me speak to supervisor. She will call you back within an hour. Call another PC Richards number. Get a customer service person who turns out to be the "supervisor" I was waiting for. She said, Ma'am I have it on my desk and I was going to call you when I put it in the computer, you just had to be patient. Call the Levittown store. They have to check stock and will call me back. They do not have in stock. I can pick it up from warehouse in Farmingdale. Call Farmingdale warehouse. You can bring broken unit here and pick up the new one. Go to Farmingdale, told that we can't drop off broken unit here, have to drop off in store first. Then go there or another PC Richards that have model in stock. Finally, spoke to a service rep who spoke to manager in Levittown who took the broken unit back and gave us a different model. Took the new one out of box and the back fins were smashed in. It was a Generations (Only sold @PC Richards) GAC12ERS3A 12,000BTU, looked on line they gave it to us for the same price as the LG $299.97, it is on sale for $279.00. I also heard from 2 additional people who recently had similar problems.

PC Richard and Son

I purchase NICON camera with additional warranty from store about little more than a month ago, after few weeks lens stop comes out, so I contact store I purchase it from, and they said that it's still under factory warranty and they send it to factory for repair I was told that it shouldn't take not more than 2 weeks, no one contact me after 2 weeks, so I called again and now they telling me I should get it back in about another couple week. Will never come back to that store or other once REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE

You should demand an exchange from the manager. If he or she denies it take it to the next level.

My sister-n-law had a similar problem with a camcorder that was 4 months old. The manager in West New York, I think his name was Ruben, allowed her to exchange the camcorder towards any other model. I was shocked when she told us the story at a family event when I questioned on where she purchased.

She also told me on how he discounted the new unit solely because of the bad experience with the returned unit. She returned a Sony and got a nice red Samsung.

PC RICHARDS ARE UNRELIABLE AND SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS

I am pregnant....and have no food in my refrigerator over a MONTH. I have a question how does a brand new fridge stop working only six months into the purchase? Every time they send someone to "fix" it the problem still persist. I need a working fridge, I have no time to be wasting playing games with PC Richards and their horrible technicians. Every time we call for service is weeks apart that they schedule a person to diagnose the problem then they have to come back again another week to fix it...and that has been the cycle over a freaking month now...WTF!! Where the *** is my NEW fridge..they are selling unreliable appliances to the public and do not want to take responsibility for it. So now Im on their terms on when the *** I can have a working refrigerator and I have a baby on the way...this is unacceptable. Im still waiting for what i thought was a good purchase...DO NOT BUY FROM PC RICHARDS....IM ABOUT TO CANCEL THE ORDER FOR A WASHER & DRYER I PURCHASED TOO...IS NOT WORTH IT!

@Call a Consumer law lawyer: The lemon law only applies to used vehicles, I believe.

P C Richard is not capable of repair and installation

installation on clothing washer was done by IDIOTS , it was worse with dishwasher . crimped copper water line, to waist line causing flood in basement (forced 1/2 " line into 1/2" waist line) paid for install had to go to home depot to repair myself theirtheir installation is N.G. repair service is poor as well, commercial is bogus first time figured oh well second time never again , I called RVC store and recieved nothing but a arogant manager that seemed to only interested in sales , and not to help a customer in need i will never go to them again for any thing

The advertised this tablet as having Android 2.3 when in reality it comes with a 2.2 and is not upgrade-able. When you go back to the store they claim that is not their responsibility to provide the operating system because they come incorporated in the product. Upon sending e-mails to the main office they don't offer any solutions and all they say is that they are very sorry and that they will check with the advertisement department. I believe that they may have been in business for over 100 years, so I assume that they would know how to write an ad.

PC Richard Warranty Service is terrible

After spending $4000 on a washer and dryer with an extended 10 year warranty, my washing machine broke down. I called for service under the warranty and was told by the independent (contracted by PC Richard) service tech that the machine was not economical to repair and was a fire hazard.

PC Richard assured me that I would have a new washer within 3 days. I called to check status the next day and was told that they were ordering parts to repair the washing machine instead of giving me a new one. Why would I want to use a washing machine that was deemed a fire hazzard.

Continued calls to the service department to no avail. I will never do business with this awful store again.

i am a senior citizen. living on a very tight budget.

i bought a bravia-sony 32 in. t.v.i bought it 4 years ago with a sevice contract. my contract is up 9/19/11 i did not hear from sony, so i called. customer service.

they said that parts were cancelled and there is nothing that can be done. at present the t.v. is working. i love the t.v.

but i want a contract. in the newspapers you say how p.c. richards is reliable. please be kind enough to advise me what to do, thank you.

I just purchased a refrigerator with a 5 year service contract from PC Richard after a horrible experience with Sears (told by Sears that I had to wait 12 days for a refrigerator repair on a frig with an internal temp of 60). I hope PC Richard is honors their service contract in a more conscientious manner.

I don't know the details of this situation and would love it if the customer would call a supervisor at 631 777 ****. We we can get to the bottom of the issue and ensure customer satisfaction, as we have done for 101 years.

Need washer/dryer to be replace

I bought a washer/dryer at pc richards and son ,it was on sale i paid $1175.55 the includes five warranty,payments were made in instalments,because i couldn't afford to make the full payment.I went to pick it up and it they told me it was sold,but they can replace it with the exact one they call another location and they had it,they deliver iton 07/26/11.I was not at home when igot home it was the wrong one i call them and they refuse to come and get it.I am Mad and i can't use it i want what i paid for.

I bough a washer and dryer. They said it will be deliver on Wednesday, today is Wednesday, no call no show.

So o called, they hung up on me after putting me on hold for 25 minutes, made multiple phone calls before they knew where my washer and dryer are.

Now they said it will arrived to their warehouse by next Tuesday, and estimate delivery is on Thursday, so 2 weeks to delivered? Bad experience, I will never buy anything there ever ever again.

Pc richards sells LG products it knows are ***

PC Richards sells products it knows are unreliable but makes big markup on product it knows are ***. LG appliances are garbage go see LG complaints online. The LG refrigerator they sold is *** there was intermittent banging noises from motor day or so after receiving item then 6 months later it broke we lost hundreds of dollars of food and PC serviceman took 4 days to come. July 4th vacation was ruined because we needed to wait for repairman to service unit. I made e-mails and calls to LG and no one returned my calls. PC Richards said if you got warranty we would come right away, strange the serviceman who is coming today said he was sent from PC Richards. I will keep you posted

GE Money - Major Scam

Be VERY wary of these people! They are RIP OFFS of the highest order.

I was told that I would be interest free for 18 months, after which my payments would begin to include interest. What they DIDN'T tell me was that all that interest was accruing and that when it kicked in I would be hit by deferred interest in the sum of almost $800.00! NONE of this is listed on your monthly statement page, mind you. It's a separate page (to which they conveniently never direct you!

You really have to hunt for it.) THEN you're hit with a brand new 26.99% interest rate!!! You read that right! 26.99%!!! Even though I have automatic payments, so I'm never late!

This is now by far my most expensive interest account. They make CitiCard look like Mother Teresa. PLEASE!!! If you have an account with these people PAY IT OFF FAST.

Then find another provider!

These people have *** where their souls ought to be. Buyer beware!!!

P.C. Richard & Son is misleading the consumer here, they do NOT issue their own credit card; GE does so they have no control over what goes on with their credit card.

They hope GE is following the law but if they are not P.C. Richard can't even be held liable. After shopping there for many years, their salesperson says to me, "Why don't you open a PC Richard credit card and have 0% interest for 18 months?" I thought."Why not?" I later on find out that she gets a bonus for every credit card she opens. Now I don't know about everyone but most people I know scan their credit card statements & pay them.

Most don't sit there & read the small print every month and the credit card companies know this and count on it. The statement that stated in size 10 font that the finance charges would commence the following month, had a size 38 bright blue font with balloons wishing me a Happy Birthday and offering me a coupon for a future purchase. HHHMMMMM. Why not put the finance charge information in a bright blue size 38 font?

I would have appreciated it more. GE's response, "We follow the law." Shady but legal. I did call the P.C. Richard saleswoman, whose personal cell phone # I have due to the amount of business I have given her over the years, and informed her that after over 10 years I would no longer be a P.C.

Richard customer and specifically, her customer. I hope the $25-$50 she made for pushing this credit card on me without telling me all the facts makes up for the thousands she knows she lost on commission.

I trusted her and P.C. Richard to be honest and provide me with all the information, the trust is gone.

Give me a break. I have been dealing with PC for over 20 years and have used the DEFERRED interest plan numerous times.

18 months deferred interest is a great deal.

If you can't afford to pay off the purchase in 18 months, maybe you shouldn't have bought the item in the first place. Don't blame PC for your lack of responsibility.

P.C. Richard has had a reputation for honesty, integrity and reliability for over 101 years; a reputation we hold dear.

Our financing promotions very clearly state in both the in-store literature and on every monthly statement, that if the balance is not paid in full by the end of the promotional period the interest will accrue from day one. The format and order of statement information is now mandated by federal law. The financial institution must follow very strict federal banking guidelines as to what appears where on every statement. There is not "small print".

This customer received 17 previous statements with clear and concise instructions as to when the balance would have have to be paid in order to receive no interest.

We believe most people would agree that receiving 18 months to pay for something with no finance charges is an excellent promotion. However, as with any banking transaction, the consumer should always read their statements.

Do not buy appliances from PC Richards, I spent a lot of money buying five appliances, they told me to pick it up the next week, when I when to do it they said they did not have it on stuck. Later, after only two uses, the dryer broke I needed service, had to wait one week, the next Saturday I was the last one. They have communications problems, people lie, they blame each other, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM PC RICHARDS, VERY BAD COMPANY. I also called the corporate office in NY and they were not helpful, they just do not care for the customer

I totally agree with you!!!! I had a very bad experience with them recently and it wasn't just one person.

It was the customer service 800 number, the service repair person and the manager of the store.

It took 8 days for them to even come and look at my brand new - not working - washing machine. When a service person finally came to my house he said that it needed a part and it would be at least 7 days until it was here!!!! Crazy!!! After going into the store and arguing with the manager for 25 minutes, he finally said he would replace it in a couple of days...

unacceptable... lots more went on...

but this is the jist of it.. Will never by another product from them again!!!

GE Money Sharp Dealing

We bought a whole kitchen appliance set (stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, etc.) with our PC Richards credit card. We were promised that there would be no interest charged if the total amount was paid within x days. We electronically transferred full payment for the total sale on the next-to-last day. GE Money held up the recording of our payment so that it would not be recorded within the time limit. They then charged us $500+ interest, which was the total interest on the several thousands of dollars they had charged us for the kitchen appliances. We haven't paid, and we haven't shopped at PC Richards any more, and we are being hassled by collection agencies for the interest money.
